Tao Porchon-Lynch Receives Prestigious Padma Shri Award 2019

January 26, 2019 - The Government of India announced yesterday from New Delhi that 100-year-old historical icon and yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch has received the prestigious Padma Shri Award for her distinguished service.  The Padma Awards, instituted in 1954, are one of the highest civilian honors of India.

Tao Shines Bright in India 2017 – Part 2

June 20, 2017 - On our second full day in Bangalore, we met 97-year-old Amma V. Nanammal and her son V. Balakrishnan at the hotel. She is from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, and is considered the oldest yoga teacher in India. Since both Tao and Nanammal were going to be featured on stage that evening together, Shwaasa Guru wanted them to meet and coordinate their yoga postures.

New York, NY, April 13, 2016 – 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch can add another accolade to her name, “award-winning author,” demonstrating once again that it is never too late to realize your dreams. Her book, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, tied for a Silver Medal in the Autobiography/Memoir II (Coming of Age/Family Legacy/Travel) national category for the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards.
