Tao’s 98th Birthday Party

August 7, 2016--Although August 13th is Tao Porchon-Lynch's actual birthday, on Sunday there was a grand bash at the Taj Palace Restaurant in White Plains, New York to celebrate her 98th! Tao's extended family of friends and colleagues from her various walks of life -- such as yoga, dance and wine -- were all there. It's a testament to how you can create your own community of love.

Tao Porchon-Lynch at Yoga Jam in CT

July 22, 2016--The 4th annual Yoga Jam at Harbor Point in Stamford, CT featured a sea of yogis and other light bearers. In addition to soul-stirring yoga, the event featured dance, African drumming, shopping, and celebration of community to raise money for the Africa Yoga Project. 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch gave the opening remarks and meditation. At the end, I facilitated a Q&A with her.

Tao Porchon-Lynch Meets Shwaasaguru

July 14, 2016--97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch and I spent the afternoon with Shwaasaguru Sri Vachananand Swamiji from Bangalore. He is a yogic science expert and philosopher best known for his mass yoga camps, TV shows in India and teaching of Shwaasa yoga. He was sent to his Master Sri Marulashankara Shivayogi at age 8 and has been dedicated to the yogic lifestyle since.

Tao Porchon-Lynch on CBS New York

July 12, 2016--97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch had the pleasure of teaching CBS2’s Mary Calvi in her first yoga class. Mary attended Tao's regular Thursday morning session at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York, and was enthralled by Tao's light and incredible life story.

July 9, 2016--97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch shared her teachings and wisdom once again at Integral Yoga Institute (IYI) in New York. She has taught there many times and it was wonderful to be back. IYI is my yoga home where I did my original training and where I met Tao so it was extra special. Tao taught yoga asana and then I was honored to moderate a Conversation with a Master talk.

2016 International Day of Yoga-Day 2

June 21, 2016--To celebrate International Day of Yoga, after the activities the day before at the United Nations (see Day 1A and Day 1B), 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch taught a special yoga class at Athleta Scarsdale. It was packed as usual. Thank you to Sue Wald for hosting a wonderful event. In the afternoon, I attended the second day of programming with Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

2016 International Day of Yoga-Day 1A

June 20, 2016 – On the summer solstice, one day in advance of International Day of Yoga, 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch spoke at the United Nations joining the Founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. As a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and her biographer, I was delighted to moderate Tao's conversation. Sadhguru's conversation was moderated by Max Kennedy, author and son of Robert F. Kennedy. The audience included senior UN officials, ambassadors and other dignitaries from various countries.

Tao Hosts David Swenson Workshop

June 12, 2016-- Two incredible teachers together in one place... it was divine! 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch hosted a workshop with one of her favorite people, acclaimed Ashtanga Yoga teacher David Swenson. He taught two back-to-back workshops at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York. Since he is one of the top teachers in the world, the sessions were packed as he shared his knowledge of Ashtanga, inversions and how to "fly."
