Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch does Facebook Live Chat with Dr. Deepak Chopra
November 13, 2016–98-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch is embracing new technology and did her first Facebook Live Chat with Dr. Deepak Chopra from his apartment in New York. It was an inspirational lovefest. The conversation drew over 159,000 views, almost 5,000 likes, over 2,000 shares, and thousands of comments from around the world.
The mutual admiration and energy between Deepak and Tao was palpable. They talked about a variety of topics from how Tao knew the great sage Sri Aurobindo and marched with Mahatma Gandhi to her philosophy on ignorance, Oneness, yoga, the power of the mind, aging, beauty, and even her advice to young models. Tao shared nuggets of wisdom such as:
It’s better to light one candle than to curse the darkness of ignorance.
Ignorance comes in many forms, but Oneness has only one form. It brings us together… the beat of the heart is in all of us.
Yoga to me is the dance of the soul. Dancing lights up within. It is putting into practice your inner energy.
There is no such thing as age. Feel the Oneness within yourself.
Don’t wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. One minute after midnight is already today. Don’t procrastinate.
Deepak also gave a glowing recommendation for Tao’s award-winning autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, for which he wrote the front cover endorsement saying:
One of the most acclaimed yoga teachers of our century, Tao Porchon-Lynch is a mentor to me who embodies the spirit of yoga and is an example of Ageless Body Timeless Mind. Like yoga, she teaches us to let go and to have exquisite awareness in every moment.
In 2011, they both shared the stage with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Newark Peace Education Summit of which Deepak said, “The Dalai Lama was astounded and overwhelmed by [Tao].” They also shared the same master teacher, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi — founder of Transcendental Meditation. Tao became friends with Maharishi in the 1950s before he became well-known. He actually sought her out in Los Angeles and then they developed a friendship. Deepak met him in the early 1990s and their personal connection quickly transformed his own teachings.
The two lights of Tao and Deepak were shining bright through the computer in their Facebook Live chat. Below are pictures from their afternoon together.
