Tao Porchon-Lynch with students from the Yoga Club of University of Delaware

Tao Porchon-Lynch with students from the Yoga Club of University of Delaware on May 3, 2015

On Sunday, May 3, 2015, the University of Delaware Yoga Club hosted a yoga workshop with 96-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch.  It was a packed house of students who were treated to hands-on instruction from the oldest active yoga master in the world.

After the workshop, her student and biographer Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy moderated a discussion with Tao as a preview to her new memoir, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master. The other co-author is Columbia University-trained journalist Janie Sykes-Kennedy.

Tao shared personal stories such as joining Mahatma Gandhi on the 1930 Salt March and her friendships with icons such as Marlene Dietrich and Noël Coward. The audience was enthralled by Tao’s presence as well as the slideshow of images that accompanied the talk.

Many thanks to Khushbu Modi and the members of the Delaware University Yoga Club for organizing the event. Be sure to order Dancing Light. The inspirational autobiography has received endorsements from a number of notables such as Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, Agapi Stassinopoulos and Beryl Bender Birch.
