Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch Turns 99!
August 13, 2017 – On Sunday, Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch turned 99 and celebrated with a birthday bash at the Mansion on Broadway in North White Plains. Over 130 people from various parts of Tao’s life — yoga, ballroom dancing, wine — came out to share the evening.
Tao’s dance partners Anton Bilozorov, Vard Margaryan and Arsen Sargsyan were there, and Sandip Soparrkar flew in from Mumbai to surprise her. Tao took a spin on the dance floor and once again showed us that everything is possible!! Many friends, such as Ron Tvert, Renee Diamond, Joanna Rajendran and John Mirrione, gave tributes.
The co-authors of Tao’s award-winning autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master — Janie Sykes-Kennedy and Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy, along with Sheila Kennedy Bryant — shared the honored dinner table. Robert Sturman, who took the beautiful red dress photo on the cover of Tao’s book, came in from California for the bash. Much thanks to Joyce Pines for helping to coordinate.
